Wikipedia defines it simply enough: a chair "is selected by a company's board to preside over meetings and lead the board of directors." Now comes the kicker: "and lead the board to consensus from the disparate points of view of its members"... And, the chair must accomplish this with no greater voting authority than any other director! Done well, it is an art form, but if you are a board vet, you also likely know the agony of less-than-stellar leadership.

Do not miss this opportunity to hear from several of San Diego's most esteemed directors as they explain what it takes to be an effective chair, and share tips and tools learned from their years of experience in the arena. Using case studies that illuminate some of the challenges faced, this panel will offer expert guidance that we can all apply, including occasions when the Chair is not leading effectively.

Diplomatically managing the myriad of difficult director interactions that can occur in the boardroom is a learned skill that can always be improved--and what a difference it makes to the company.

Bring your experience to the discussion and participate in our lively Q & A session!
